Feeding Hungry Kids
THE NEED FOR FOOD
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs shows that basic needs must be fulfilled before concentration on higher level needs is even possible. Without adequate physiological needs such as food, achieving one’s full potential is not a reality.
According to the Northern Illinois Food Bank 1 in 5 kids face hunger. During the school day these kids are provided for by the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), however on the weekends and days when school is not in session this basic need may not be met, leaving hungry children at a severe disadvantage to learn and grow.
